Misidentification

when the Bagger 1473 became populer under the urbex community the link was qwickly made to the Bagger 258 because of markings found on the number found on the information plate this in unforenely not true the Bagger 258 was a bucket-wheel excavator at work at the Tagebau Garzweiler mine some 650 km away forom the Bagger 1473 resting place

Operational life

In its operational life the miner was used in the Tagebau Meuro mine from 1965 to 2002

Scraping

In early 2019 it was announced that the bucket wheel excavator should be scrapped. Decisive for this decision of the municipalities was the increasing decay and vandalism. Only parts of the excavator, such as the paddle wheel, should be preserved.
