Can you help me?

Hi, I'm guessing I'm on your watch list, but can you check out the Diebold article? I think I'm about to get into an edit war, and seeing as you're more proficient about the rules than I am I was wondering if you could help. I don't know how to send messages on wikipedia so I'm sorry I had to edit this page, no harm intended. I think people editing down the controversy from the role Diebold played in the election is an effort by the company to alter the history and the wikiscanner controversy.

Skiing in Lebanon

You are right this article shoud be deleted but harrassement comes from the nominator. I have given up about this but yyou should look at his activity regarding articles such as Faraya Mzaar Kfardebian and Skiing in Lebanon maybe you would change your mind. Anyway who cares? By the way please instead of a comment, just close the Discussion as "Delete" on the topic Emile Riaci, that would help a lot ! Lebprofiler (talk) 23:14, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Lebprofiler[reply]

Anime Dude2

Well then how does this sound? "Athrun deals with most of the attackers while Meyrin and Kira protect Lacus and Meer, at one point even managing to shoot a grenade that was intended for Lacus, out of mid-air back at Sarah.

Will that sufice? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anime Dude (talkcontribs) 17:23, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anime Dude

Why do you keep changing Meyrin's information back? The part about the grenade is a valid and verifiable piece of info. just watch the episode. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anime Dude (talkcontribs) 21:05, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Revert of catchphrase information by loplop100

Why are you removing all of my additions? What have you got about against catchphrases? For most of these people, catchphases are pretty much all they're known for.

My response

The reason why I changed that back is because the Ethnic origin is not for which government they were born into but rather their cultural background of which country they are based off of. Besides if you take a look at Kiras page you can see his background as Japanese. Anyway after looking at your message I can suggest if you want to talk about it with other users and see if it is reliable iformation then I would suggest looking into the talk page at WikiProject Mobile Operation System and posting a message. -Adv193 04:09, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, good to know. You should probably collect some examples (with diffs) so you'll have evidence to show admins who get involved. The edits are subtle and it's hard for an outsider to determine who is right. Let me know if you have any questions. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:38, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There you go. You should probably make a user space page with all that (like User:Edward321/Evidence) so you can refer to it - and update it - whenever you need to. —Wknight94 (talk) 12:13, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, someone else is having trouble with this guy? Do you think we can finally get him banned? I've seen warnings galore on his talk page, but no action taken. ZakuTalk 22:32, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gundam Seed Infoboxes

Did you notice recently that Gundam Seed Character Infoboxes have been modified and that it will no longer display the love interests which I can understand if someone were to take them off. But anyway think it is time to remove them from the character pages since they no longer have any use. -Adv193 03:02, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I was just as within my rights to remove the hangon tag. There is no way in hell that article will be kept, and so I removed hangon under Wikipedia:Ignore all rules policy. All the hangon tag is doing is delaying the inevitable and wasting an admins time by making them to have wait to and check back to see if a valid reason for inclusion is provided. Saving Private Ryan

You recently reverted one of my edits, claiming I deleted information rathr then moving it (Saving Private Ryan). Please re read my summary as well as the edit history. The information in question was moved to and incorporated into the Historical Background section over a series of 3 edits. I'm putting it back that way - if you've a problem with the changed let's discuss it on the article's talk page.--Lepeu1999 11:47, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! I see, cut-and-paste error on my part, thank you. Next time possibly more info in the edit summary or a note on the discussion page might be a better solution then a whole-scale revision.--Lepeu1999 13:56, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please review John Henry Browne article and remove speedy deletion tag

You recently added a speedy deletion tag to John Henry Browne. I'm sure it did not meet the speedy deletion criteria to begin with, and after some minor edits on my part it certainly does not now -- more than that, it's completely appropriate and notable. I explain my rational in depth on the talk page. If you disagree, would you please change the speedy deletion to a request for consensus or some other appropriate method under Wikipedia guidelines and policy? Thanks. Please don't change until the person who I am working on this with can review notes. I left "History of Sicily" unchanged, but changed this one, so we can compare notes. Scipio3000

As you know, this user is finding it difficult to deal with people. I am working with him in an effort to help him improve. I have warned him about deleting material from the discussion pages of the articles on which he works, however, when it comes to his discussion page he can delete from it according to our guidelines (see here section 4.1. Of course it is generally best not to and one should archive. I have no idea why he posted on the archive of a user page but he was warned.

I will encourage him to be more civil. Please make every effort to avoid issues with him as it is unproductive and wastes your time when I'm sure you have editing you want to do. Thanks! --JodyB yak, yak, yak 10:11, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You might like to know that Scipio3000 has just reported you on an archive of WP:AN/I, I'm not quite sure why. He presumably should have warned you beforehand. He has also been blanking sections on another user's talk pages. --Mathsci 00:34, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He has been warned in very stern language again. There was no substance to the report so I wouldn't worry about it. --JodyB yak, yak, yak 01:55, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why

Why are you so against me? Every time I do something, you either undo it, revise it or tell on me. I am tired of your vendetta against me...Is it ever going to end? Can we not settle this like men? I apologized to you, which takes a real man to do...so why do you continue to want to tell on me? We are not in preschool, I hope we can resolve are differences. BTW you accuse me of alot, but I was going to totally restructure that whole page, no one gave me a chance it was WIP, and then I have been blocked 75% of the time. The context that was in is incorrect. It belonged in an earlier period which in my opinion needed a complete overhaul. Please let me know if you are willing to discuss this further with me and solve this matter as men and not as children. Thank you(Scipio3000 16:09, 13 August 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I have apologized to you and asked you to discuss this with me...YOU refuse. Why? I extended my hand, that is all I can do...WELL YOU RUIN the page. I am tired of you! QUIT MESSING WITH OUR PAFGE WITHOUT DISCUSSING IT WITH US...THIS IS NOT YOUR PAGE!! I have told him to stop with the whole Italian ownership deal, it's getting ridiculous. I have also given the user a warning on copyright violation. DarthGriz98 16:04, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have done likewise. --JodyB yak, yak, yak 16:13, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is truly unfortunate what happened in this whole affair, but at least it is over for the time being. I have never had someone call me a bigot because I'm Irish before. I agree Darthgriz. I can go awhile without having to deal with this again. And thanks Edward for the star. Let's see how good the article can be. What Scipio never knew is that I have first generation Italian in my family! --JodyB yak, yak, yak 00:43, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I tried to reason with him, but he has gone off the far end and just will not listen to anything. At least there's record of him accusing you to have deleted a paragraph but you did not, and I showed evidence of his false accusation during the process that got his talk page protected. MythSearchertalk 14:08, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Scipio3000

I do not think that would be the right course of action this moment. After leaving a message like that, we should not further antagonize him when he has shown he is willing to edit civilly in the future. Also, several users tried to explain to him about the copyright issue as well as the ownership policy. By now, hopefully he has realized this after posting that message because it is really too much to have multiple people come in and re-explain over and over. I really commend El C and JodyB for their patience in the situation. I think he's on good terms at the moment and we shouldn't have much to worry about for now.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 01:50, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Legal threats

Thanks for helping me on this matter. I really appreciate it. :)--CyberGhostface 13:56, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A copy of an email which I sent to unblock-en-l@lists.wikimedia.org requesting that the duration of the 6 month block which "Georgewilliamherbert" imposed on my account be reduced:

I am User:24.168.46.238 who was recently blocked from Wikipedia for six months by a Wikipedia administrator named "Georgewilliamherbert".

Since my user talk page was protected by "Mr.Z-man" only 4 minutes after the block was issued by "Georgewilliamherbert", I was denied the opportunity to post an unblock request. I'd like to request that I be give the opportunity to do so now:

I know that I was wrong for threatening legal action against "CyberGhostface", but I had asked him to stop bothering me by posting repeated warnings on my user talk page for minor violations of Wikipedia's rules, and he refused. I believe that he had a vendetta against me, as he seemed to be tracking my every edit, just waiting for me to do something in violation of Wikipedia' s rules so he could post another warning on my user talk page, which he knew would aggravate me and cause me to lose my temper. "CyberGhostface" had previously gotten me blocked for personal attacks, and I was stupid enough to fall for his ploy to get me blocked again. I lost my cool, and posted things on my user talk page that I shouldn't have. I know that there was no excuse for my behavior, and for that, I am very sorry.

I'd like to respectfully ask that you shorten the duration of by block, as I feel that six months is far too harsh of a punishment. I was initially issued a 48 hour block by one administrator, but 7 hours later (without me making any additional offensive edits or postings on Wikipedia), it was arbitrarily extended to 6 months by another administrator.

I promise that once my editing priviliges are reinstated, I will no longer engage in the kind of conduct (personal attacks, threats of legal action) that got me blocked. After reinstatement, I intend on creating an account on Wikipedia, and I will make constructive additions to the project. I invite you to check up on me periodically to see that I am keeping my word to you!

I also promise to you that will have no further contact with "CyberGhostface", and since I have no intention of violation Wikipedia's rules in the future, he has no valid reason whatsoever to contact me or to post warnings on my user talk page.

I feel that a reduction in the duration of my block is warranted, considering the questionable circumstances of how my block was arbitrarily increased from 48 hours to 4320 hours.

Again, please accept my sincere apology for my past behavior on Wikipedia, and thank you for your consideration!

Note: I am using a friend's computer (IP Address: 64.38.198.61) simply to post this notice on the user talk page of the administrator who increased my block from 48 hours to 6 months. I am not a "sockpuppet", and I have no intention of using my friend's computer again.

64.38.198.61 14:05, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you are aware, the "minor violations of Wikipedia's rules" include blanking the page of User:Spirot, an editor who had left, with "Good riddance!" Nor did I have any ploy to get him banned. I could care less about this editor. I actually told him that once he stopped vandalizing Wikipedia, I would leave him alone. Before making any further judgements, I strongly suggest you look at this editor's contributions.--CyberGhostface 16:38, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at his contributions, and up until his interaction with you, CyberGhostface, he seemed to be making positive edits and contributions to wikipedia. Now let's be honest here... aren't you gloating just a little bit now that 24.168.46.238 has been blocked? If you didn't "have any ploy to get him banned" as you claim, then you wouldn't have continued to antagonize an obviously irate editor. I would advise that in the future, you exercise a little better judgement in dealing with editors who you are having problems and/or an edit war with ...that's Mr. Sockpuppet to you! 09:21, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What are you doing?

I noticed that you are reverting many of user:Anoshirawan's edits. Most of his edits are in Afghanistan related articles. Now I've looked at your edit history and you do not make edits to Afghanistan related articles and with all due respect you don't really have any knowledge about these topics. I advise you to stop this considering that you are not familiar with these topics. -- Behnam 16:10, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What claims am I making? Those articles, if you read them, are obviously not entirely history of Afghanistan. There is no claim there, its obvious which template should be used. -- Behnam 01:13, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why I endorsed Gavin.Collins

Well, I have noticed his AfDs and usually agreed with them. My problem with articles on fictional subjects stems from the same reason I don't do crossword puzzles; somebody else completely invented it. What fans do is feed off the creative efforts of the authors of the book, game, TV show, etc. Fans generally cannot find a way to write about their favorite book or show critically—they reguritate the hard work of the few talented folks who wrote/directed/acted the material. People outside the fan base cannot distinguish the important from the non-important on Wikipedia pages because of the poor writing. I also don't like long discussions of errors in creative works, for the same reason I find pictures of actress's nipple slips distasteful; it wasn't done for my benefit. Basically, as long as the game or book or TV show exists, an interested person can look directly at the source. If the work is lost, Wikipedia's summary, no matter how detailed, will not bring it back. What Wikpipedia should do is function as an encyclopedia, drawing connections between things so that, for example, a kid who likes Harry Potter books can find other books like them, and maybe find out if they are crap like Eragon. In the end, I always ask myself the question; "Could somebody in the distant future find themselves getting a PhD on this topic?" before I argue for the deletion of an article. Fiction, present tense

List of Claymore characters I hope you do know that Teresa's story is a flashback. Then if you think that fictional stories must be written in present tense, why do you change only one part of it to present, and leave the rest in past tense? Are you going to convert the whole article into present tense, or just leave it partially in present anf partially in past like that? Shrine Maiden (talk) 06:56, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Partially as a result of your vote to keep the article, the AfD resulted in "no consensus". Since you are convinced that Wikipedia should have an article on Jacen Solo, please stand by that and help get this article to the bare minimum encyclopedic standards. This includes a complete rewrite from a non-in-universe perspective, accompanied by reliable, third-party secondary sources.

If however the article has not been brought up to this bare minimum within the next 4 weeks, I will consider resubmitting it for deletion.

Seneca the younger page

You have reverted two items on the seneca the younger page. What you call tightening up the wording is in fact making the entry incorrect. Seneca was not a co-conspirator in the Piso conspiracy as you will see if you read Tacitus he was however caught up in its aftermath. Would you please justify your views on the Seneca Talk page if you have evidence for what you write? I am reverting your changes and if you simply revert them again without comment I will report you for vandalism. Secondly I have written a contribution on the Haddas quote you reinstated. Please comment there why you think it should be reinstated. In the meantime I am deleting it.

Thanks for your help

Thanks for your help on the Aoife Hoey article (formerly Aoife Hoey (bobsleigh)) from deletion. I really appreciate it. Chris (talk) 15:45, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peg Entwistle

Hi, I notice you reverted a lot of information from Peg Entwistle. I agree that the information and the way it was presented does not comply with our policies, but please take into account that this contributor is brand new here, has probably never used Wikipedia before, and clearly wants nothing more than to improve the article. Treating him/her like a vandal is unfair. Please don't scare him/her away by removing contributions without discussing it or explaining why. Wikipedia could end up losing someone who has a lot to offer. I have offered to help him/her, so for the time being, could I please ask you to not simply revert these additions. I'm pressed for time at the moment, but I will help get everything straightened out with this article. Thanks Rossrs (talk) 08:34, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. In hindsight, I overreacted in messaging you, and I shouldn't have, but thanks for being understanding. Rossrs (talk) 15:13, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mctrain

So I see. He's also !voted delete at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Grace Talarico di Capace‎ both as an IP and with the newly created account User:Cancanit. I don't really think there's much the admins can do about problem users with dynamic IPs, though. They might extend the block on the main account, I suppose, but that won't stop him, as you've noticed. Deor (talk) 02:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wish he'd keep his promise and leave. Corvus cornixtalk 03:15, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thorp Academy

All other school are 'Cluster Magnets"- which means it is a magnet school bound by a territorial/ neighborhood designation. Only Thorp Scholastic Academy (elementary) and Lane Tech Prep (high School) are magnet schools that cross over any boundaries for the whole Chicago region. Lane already has a proper article and Thorp warrents one too without flagging. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.141.156.132 (talk) 17:45, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gypsy

Please don't revert the information on Gypsy. There is a major production going on right now on Broadway, the fourth revival, with Patti LuPone. See Gypsy (musical). -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:22, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Mediation?

Hello - you participated in Gavin.collins' Request for Comment, so I am alerting you that we are preparing a Request for Mediation regarding him. BOZ (talk) 03:16, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Collegiate secret societies in North America. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.

I declined the the speedy deletion request you placed on this article because schools are very specifically excluded from the A7 deletion criteria. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 16:36, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hello,

I'm sorry if I came across as ignorant on the AfD:Soviet Famine page. However, this is an issue which is very difficult to talk about for many people, and I guess I am one of those people.

If you have a chance, please join the discussion here [[4]].

I responded to your AfD comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Variant texts in Scientology doctrine. The issue is not whether there are "sources", but rather what those sources are. It has yet to be demonstrated that this topic has received significant coverage in WP:RS/WP:V secondary sources. Cirt (talk) 17:12, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I wish to inform you that by reverting the article Iyengar to a previous version, you've been unintentionally removing a couple of entries (Anu Haasan and P. Rajagopalachari which I made. I personally feel it is better to have those entries commented out. Some of the people mentioned in the list are particularly important persons and have served as Dewans and Ministers. I'll try to gather more info about them and fix a few of those links. Regards -RavichandarMy coffee shop 02:42, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most Great Name

Please read the discussions on the page. The protocals for nominating for the article's deletion were not observed. Nur110 (talk) 04:27, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please assume good faith. As I stated, this article has been incorrectly nominated. The placement of the tag is at issue. Please respond to this issue. Thank you. And kindly do not accuse me of what I have not done. I have not changed anything in the article itself. I removed the deletion tag. Nur110 (talk) 04:38, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia policy for removing tags for proposed deletion state: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_policy If you disagree: Any editor who disagrees with a proposed deletion can simply remove the tag.

Nur110 (talk) 04:42, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please assume good faith. You will note that I have cited repeatedly here as well as on your talk page that the correct protocol for nominating this article for deletion have not been followed. There is now more than one editor who has pointed this out. The article itself was vandalized by the editor proposing its deletion. The policy for deletion states,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_policy Reasons for deletion include, but are not limited to, the following (subject to the condition that improvement or deletion of an offending section, if practical, is preferable to deletion of an entire page):

None of these criteria have been met in order for the article to be even placed in the proposal stages for deletion. Please respond to this and the fact that the article was vandalized by the proposer before hurling accusations at others. THank you. Nur110 (talk) 07:10, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Secretchiefs3 Sock Drawer

The WP:Articles_for_deletion/Most_Great_Name discussion opened up a sock drawer. I suspected that they were all socks of the author.

As I see you took the time to open up a suspected sockpuppet case I apologize for not bringing this up earlier to you, but I didn't want to give even an appearance of collusion outside of the discussion. My apologies for wasting your time.

I wonder if we can strike out, or even delete, the AFD comments from known socks. It'd clean that up considerably. Cheers, MARussellPESE (talk) 15:16, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FYI. I wonder why it's taking so long to clear this up. This is so bloody obvious. MARussellPESE (talk) 20:32, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disappeared people

I've removed again this category, because of the description of the category given here (For any individual born before 1885 whose year of death remains undetermined, please change this category to Category:Year of death unknown.). Cheers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.131.125.120 (talk) 09:55, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, the category Category:Disappeared people can not be used for any person born before 1885 (read the description of the category that I copied and marked bold above). This is a category for people who disappeared and they might be still alive, and Richard of Shrewsbury does not satisfy this criterion. Therefore, it can not be in this category.

ARTICLE ON MY USER PAGE

Question-- if I made a copy of the article "Nyrva Dragonrhyne", and put it on my user page, what's wrong with that? Your comment on the deletion discussion page for this article, you say--

Comment Wikatu appears to be creating a duplicate of the article on their User Page. [1] Edward321 (talk) 23:35, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

So why is this an issue? Can you please clear this up? Aren't people entitled to put whatever they want on a user page here?

I am trying to ask you a fair question here, not attack you.

Thanks. Witaku (talk) 10:43, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--- ADDED NOTE: When I read about the sandbox by the way, and what it was for, it said you could use your own user talk page as a "personal sandbox". So I was working on the article on my own page and then transferring the info to the article.

Why are you making this an issue?

Thanks. Witaku (talk) 12:18, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
