Louisiana Scholars' College
The Louisiana Scholars' College at Northwestern State University prides itself on being Louisiana's designated four-year, selective-admissions honors college in the liberal arts and sciences.
The mission of the college is to provide a quality, customized education in the liberal arts and sciences to a diverse population of well qualified, highly motivated students by rethinking the traditional liberal arts curriculum and developing innovative approaches to honors education.
History
The Scholars' College was established in 1987 by the Louisiana State Legislature as the state's official honors college.
Curriculum
The backbone of the Scholars' College curriculum is the Texts and Traditions course, a great-books based course that combines literature and history to give a complete picture of the history and culture of western society.
