Hurworth House School is an independent school in Hurworth-on-Tees, in the borough of Darlington, England. It was originally founded in 1946 as a small private boarding school for boys. Its founder, Mrs. Doris Carew-Shaw, wanted to create a small school that placed equal emphasis on pastoral care and academic excellence. In 1970, the school was made a charitable trust (which it remains to this day) and Mrs Carew-Shaw relinquished control.
