Josep Fontana

Josep Fontana was born in Barcelona, in 1931. One received the master's degree in Philosophy and Letters (section History) by the University of Barcelona in 1956. Doctoró in History by the same university in 1970. He is one of the historians of more prestige of Spain. He was student of Vicens Vives and Ferrán Soldevilla. Their main currents of investigation are economic History, the Spanish History of century XIX and the History of the property. They have influído in his thought E.P. Thompson, Pierre Vilar, Gramsci and Walter Benjamin. d'Història Jaume Vicens Vives on the Universitat Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona is director of the Institut, in which it gave classes of Introducció to the Història. It has taught economic and contemporary History in the universities of Barcelona, Valencia and Independent University of Barcelona. And he has been collaborating of the magazines of Recerques history (1970) and l'Avenç (1976). The Introducció subjet to the Història of first cycle of Humanities of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra is based on its book Introduction to the study of history.
