"Black Gold" is a 1993 single performed by the Minneapolis rock band Soul Asylum. It, along with the bands more famous hit Runaway Train, helped bring their album, Grave Dancers Union to a multi-platinum level.

Fictional hurricanes
The song was written by Soul Asylum's lead singer Dave Pirner. It was the second single off of their album (see Soul Asylum discography).

Oh, I'm not discouraged. I just do it for fun. I asked if you wanted to join in because I wanted to know if you wanted to play. (Of course, Wikipedia is already a good place to have constructive fun. :-)) Good luck! ==Meaning==

The meaning of the song has been the topic of many debates. Some fans state that it simply is about racism and/or black soldiers fighting in a war ("You're a black soldier, white fight"). Other disagree and claim it is about the greed for oil (Black Gold is another term for oil). One other theory maintains that it is about the Gulf War. Many lyrics from the song do match this idea. The lyrics "Two boys on a playground/trying to push each other down" could possibly mean the USA and Iraq fighting over "Black Gold". It has been theorized that the lines "Keeps the kids off the streets/gives 'em something to do, something to eat" could mean young men and women ("kids") joining the military. And there is the fact that at about 1:56 various noises are heard: ambulance sirens, screams, cries, and what appears to be a news cast, which could represent the war.

Norbert's active now, which means so am I; I'm starting an article on it in my sandbox. Of course, the article is extremely stubby, but that's because I literally just got started minutes ago. Just thought you'd like to know.

P.S.: I'll remember to take your advice, and read a featured article (I'll read Hurricane Lane (2006), because it had origins similar to Norbert).

* Academies in Vatican City:
** Pontifical Academy of Sciences
** Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences
** Pontifical Academy for Life
* Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana (Vatican Library), includes the Vatican School of Librarianship
* Congregation for Catholic Education
* The Vatican Museums
** Conducts guided tours for school institutions (field trips)
** Publishes educational guides for children and youth
* Vatican School of Palaeography, Diplomacy, and Archivistry, run by the Secret Vatican Archives.
* Vatican City is too small to host extensive educational facilities, but the Holy See operates several pontifical universities close by (in Rome), which are often considered part of the Vatican:
** Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum)
** Pontifical Gregorian University
** Pontifical Urbaniana University
** Pontifical Lateran University
** Pontifical University of the Holy Cross
** Salesian Pontifical University

I moved List of universities in Vatican City to List of pontifical universities, since they are not physically in Vatican City itself.

I bet there's more. :)
