This was a random writer on a long dead blog attributing that title to him and is not sourced anywhere. The second source is citing the same blog. Kriegspiel 1812 which wells cites, predates this by 100 years, as does Strategos 1880, and George Parker's (of Parker Brothers fame) 1898 game Battle of Manila, which contained cannons and figures and had nearly identical rules to the ones Wells published 15 years later. undo Tag: references removed
