Zimmerman is originally from [[Southfield, Michigan]] where he began writing for his junior high school newspaper. After attending Cranbrook Summer Theatre School for five seasons and Hampton Playhouse for two, Stan headed to New York to get his BFA at [[NYU]]/Circle-in-the-Square drama program. He has appeared on Broadway dancing behind [[Rudolph Nureyev]] and the [[Joffrey Ballet]] and if you look closely you can see him in such films as ''[[The Chosen (film)|The Chosen]]'', ''[[Zelig]]'', and ''[[Risky Business]]''. Zimmerman worked in casting before moving to Los Angeles, where he's been part of one of the longest running comedy writing teams, Zimmerman & Berg. James Berg and Stan Zimmerman are a producing and writing team. They have written for many television series including The Golden Girls, Roseanne and Gilmore Girls and the feature film A Very Brady Sequel.[1] Berg and Zimmerman were also the creators and executive producers of the sitcom, Rita Rocks, starring Nicole Sullivan and Tisha Campbell-Martin which ran on Lifetime Television.[2]

The duo has received two WGA nominations - one for The Golden Girls and one for the lesbian kiss episode of Roseanne, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".[3]
