Pichal Peri
Pichal Peri is a mystical creature, customarily recognized as a fairy. And identified by its appearance, primarily its feets that are twisted backward. And according to the legend a Pichal Peri is a supernatural being that resembles human female specie and has an eye-pleasing appearance. It bears semblance to a pretty looking and beautiful girl. Except that its feet’s are abnormal and point rearward.
In the native folklore, The Pichal Peri has been described as a fairy. The word Peri in general and in Persian mythology ' means, a beautiful and benevolent supernatural being or a fairy which was earlier regarded as malevolent. Similarly in the native Indian tongue, the word Peri also means a fairy or a beautiful or graceful girl. Whereas the word Pichal means backward or rearward in the Indian language and refers to the feets of this supernatural creature.
Moreover the Pichal Peri has its own unique characteristics. The name has been given to this mystical creature due to its characteristics. Because a Pichal Peri bears no similarity with the Banshee or any other legendary creature in traits.
The legend of the Pichal Peri is rooted in India during the past. These mystical creatures have haunted some hilly regions: particularly the Himalayan foothills and some closely connected Indian villages. The Pichal Peri phenomenon superficially originates in the mountainous regions of India and Pakistan. But universally it may have links in the mountain system of Caucasus.
The people who have lived in the Indian Subcontinent during the past have heard the Pichal Peri stories. The past generations talked a lot about the Peri phenomenon. And according to the available information the people in the Himalayan foothills and some villagers of the connected higher altitude regions in India and Pakistan have witnessed the Pichal Peri sightings in the earlier period. However those people asserted very few incidents due to lack of awareness and communication during the former times. And mostly hearsay witnesses have reported the sightings of the Pichal Peri.
