MLB '99 is a Major League Baseball video game for the PlayStation and is by 989 Sports. It was released on April 14, 1998 and is rated E for everyone. The color commentary for the game is from Dave Campbell and the play by play announcer is Vin Scully. Baltimore Orioles hitter Cal Ripken Jr. was featured on the cover. It has been succeeded by MLB 2000.

Development

The game was developed by Sony Interactive Studios America and published by Sony Computer Entertainment America.[1]

Reception

Next Generation reviewed the PlayStation version of the game, rating it four stars out of five, and stated that "control is the key to realism, and here, a positive can also be a negative, depending on the proficiency of the gamer. For neophytes and casual players, such a complex control scheme may seem more like work than fun. Skilled players, however, will rise to the challenge and welcome the flexibility."[2]
