  Melvin Bliss (?-July 26, 2010) was a rhythm and blues singer. Best known for his 1973 hit B-side "Synthetic Substitution", he did not make another another record, and soon faded into anonymity in the coming decades. Bliss died on July 26th, 2010. Bliss's birth year still remains unkown, but he was speculated to have been in his 70s[1]. Although a relatively unkown, his smash hit "Synthetic Substitution" has been sampled in songs by various hip hop artists such as Alwayz into Somethin' by N.W.A., O.G. Original Gangster by Ice-T, and O.P.P..
