Michelle Desbarats was born September 21, 1956 in Winnipeg Manitoba. She was a finalist in the CBC/Saturday Night National Poetry Contest. In 1998 she published her first book entitled "Last Child to Come Inside". She has also received the "Ontario Arts Council-Works in Progress" grant. She currently lives in Ottawa, Ontario and meets with her son Arthur for dinner on Sunday nights. She has also been reputed to make good carrots.
