HariRam Sait - Philanthropist, Owner of T.P.Sokkalal Ramsait beedi company, Promoter of Sokkalal Sangeetha Saba, Sokkalal Higher Secondary School Mukkudal, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, passed away in 1964 at the age of 29. He was instrumental in developing the infrastructure at Mukkudal with his own money. The Sokkalal hospital building was donated by him to the government, the Papakudi union office land, the Sokkalal higher secondary school, Pavoorchathiram, hefty donations to St. Xaviers college, Palayamkottai, Nazareth Margoschis College,Pillaiyanmanai, the tamil nadu police quaters, Chennai to mention a few. |

Sokkalal Sangeetha Sabha: Established in 1955 with the aim of teaching Carnatic music free to one and all. Stalwarts like Tirunelveli Ganapathiya pillai, Rajaram bhagavathar, Tanjore Chinna Rathinam pillai(ganjira), flutist Raja, Sri.Balakrishnan(clarinet) taught music. They all belonged to the Sokkalal music troop owned by Hariram Sait. Kutcheris were conducted all over Tamil Nadu and once in the presence of Shri. Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime minister of India. Versatile in carnatic music Hariram Sait once did a concert with the great singer, actor, and super star of Tamil cinema of yesteryear's Shri.M.K. Thiagaraja Bhagavathar(MKT) who was his good friend. For the annual temple festival at the Sriman Narayana swamy temple and the Muthumalai Amman temple, programmes by N.S.Krishnan(NSK) / T.A.Mathuram, Shivaji Ganesan, music concerts by N.C.Vasantha kokilam, K.B.Sunderammal, M.L. Vasathakumari, P.Susheela, Jikki, T.M. Soundararajan, Sirkazhi Govindarajan, A.M.Raja, dances by the famous 'Travancore sister’s Lalitha, Padmini, Ragini, wrestling matches by Dhara singh/King Kong were arranged by Hariram Sait. |

Mukkudal is a panchayat town in Tirunelveli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This temple village situated 20 km west of Tirunelveli on the banks of the perennial river Tamirabarani. It is famous for the large Muthumalai Amman Temple,very old and popular temple Sriman Narayanaswamy Kovil and Raamaswami kovil Temple. This is a self-satisfied town in respect to basic amenities.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Mukkudal had a population of 13,874. Males constitute 48% of the population and females 52%. Mukkudal has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 70%. In Mukkudal, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Adding nearest villages: Sadayapuram, Singamparai, Kaliyankulam, Lakshmiyapuram to Mukkudal, Mukkudal Town Panchayat was established.[2] Panchayat has 15 wards, and every wards have a member who is selected through Tamil Nadu local body elections.
Transport
Mukkudal is surrounded by lots of villages. Every village uses Mukkudal bus stand for catching the bus. Now the number of buses has been increased. The Papanasam-Kadayam route bus runs on Mukkudal way. Some of the buses depart from Mukkudal to Tirunelveli.
Health
The major and big with advance systematic hospital that for Beedi workers. They are providing totally for free services with standard services. This hospital was started by Former Central Minister. This lies at the bus stand of Mukkudal. This hospital has large and comfortable services.
