The beautiful dark red flowers of the share similarities with Passiflora vitifolia. It is usually grown by seeds or cuttings. The fruit is quite similar to Passiflora capsularis) because the fruit of both are the only red ones in the Passifloraceae. It is usually eaten fresh. Native to the Amazon region of Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia as well as Venezuela and the Guianas.
