Roya Sadat (born 1981) is an Afghan film producer and director. She was the first woman director in the history of Afghan cinema in the post-Taliban era, and ventured into making feature films and documentaries on the theme of injustice and restrictions imposed on women. Following the fall of the Taliban regime in the country, she made her debut feature film Three Dots.[2][3] For this film she received six of nine awards which included as best director and best film.[4] In 2003, she and her sister Alka Sadat established the Roya Film House and under this banner produced more than 30 documentaries and feature films.[3][5] She is now involved in producing a television series titled Bahasht Khamosh.[6]


Roya Sadat is an award-winning female Afghan producer and -director who successfully brought touching stories to international festivals after the fall of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. She is graduated from Law and Politics, University of Herat. In 2005 and Certificate of study in Asian Film Academy to South Korea in 2006, she founded Roya Film House in 2003,

Roya Sadat with Alka Sadat Founded ROYA Film House(RFH) in 2003 and this company won more than 30 International Awards around the world. Beside of International Awards she honored proud medal, hero of the battle of Maiwand (Malili ) by decree of the President in 2015 and Bibi Khaddija Award from women in Leadership and Business. Besides of Film and Media Company she -founded the first International Women Film Festival Afghanistan and book and Film Club to encourage more people especially women to read more and improve their own knowledge . She have 15 years’ experience through produce, writing and directing acclaimed feature-length and documentary films, TV drama and organize cultural events, most of the films won awards in international festivals. she participates to many International film festival as member of International Jury. She direct the first TV Serial ( The Security of This House ) with 50 Episode in Afghanistan from 2007-2008 Her first 52min feature-length film ‘Three Dots’ received numerous national and international Awards. Roya Sadat has been invited to more than 30 international film festivals for ‘Three Dots’ and ‘Playing the Taar’. Also She direct the first TV Serial (The Security of This House) with 50 Episode in Afghanistan from 2007-2008 And make the other popular Afghan TV drama BAHESHTA KHAMOSHA which won Best TV drama and writing from Rumi Awards in 2013 from Los Vegas, Also she is co-founder and president of the first International Women Film Festival – Afghanistan.

And make the other popular Afghan TV drama BAHESHTA KHAMOSHA which won Best TV dram and writing from Rumi Awards in 2013, Roya Sadat direct and produced more than 50 films, TV drama, advertisement. Her first 52min Film ‘Three Dots’ received numerous national and international Awards. Roya Sadat has been invited to more than 50 international film festivals for ‘Three Dots’ and ‘Playing the Taar’( see in her filmography).
