Location

Thorar Tehsil Thorar is in Poonch district in Azad Kashmir,It is located at 18 miles from Rawalakot city. Thorar is in the east of Bhalgran, and its main road is connected to Mang. Its suburbs are Tain, Bhalgran , Nar, Bosa Gala Androt and Chiraan. Literacy rate in Thorar is 89%. It is about 70 kilometers (46 miles) from Kohalla. and is also linked to Rawalpindi, Islamabad (via the neighboring districts of Azad Pattan and Dhalkot), and to Muzaffarabad via Kohalla. Majority of the people in Thorar belong to Sudhun tribe. People are very generous and helpful.


Occupation There are very few jobs available within Thorar, people are subsistence farmers, some who are lucky enough to find job locally work in schools or services sector in Government of Azad Kashmir, some move to Pakistan to join Pakistan Army. Large number of people from Thorar are in Europe, United States and Middle East.

Sports People of this region play volley ball, cricket and Cards.

Shopping

The town has few good bazaars where all essential commodities of life are easily available.

Cuban Medical Assistance

The town suffered significant damage from the 2005 Kashmir earthquake; although most of the buildings were left standing, many of them were rendered uninhabitable, and some of the population was left homeless. Most of the houses have been reconstructed though with the help of the Government of Pakistan or Azad Kashmir.

Cuba along with other countries provided medical assistance to the population of Rawalakot
