Anne of Green Gables (1919) is a silent film directed by William Desmond Taylor based upon the novel, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. This version is notable for having been adapted by famed female screenwriter Frances Marion. While set in Prince Edward Island, Canada, it was filmed in Dedham, Massachusetts, in the United States.[1] By 1999, all prints of the film were believed to have been lost.
