Gospel of Egypt

The term Egyptian Gospel describes two different apocryphal scriptures:

• the Greek Gospel of Egypt , which has only been handed down in a few fragments of quotations from Clement of Alexandria and Origen
• the Gnostic Coptic Gospel of Egypt , which has been handed down in two versions in the Coptic language in the Nag Hammadi writings
