Ælfheah I.

Ælfheah I. (also Alphege ; † 951 ) was Bishop of Winchester . Before his ordination as bishop in 934 he was a monk or a hermit , at which location is not known. Ælfheah was a relative of Dunstan's . In the 10th century, he particularly encouraged the renewal of monastic life.
