The Çamlıdere Dam ( Turkish Çamlıdere Barajı ) is located in the municipality of Çamlıdere , about 100 km northwest of the Turkish capital Ankara in the province of the same name .
The Çamlıdere dam was built in the years 1976–1987 to supply drinking water to the Ankara metropolitan area on Bayındır Çayı . The Bayındır Çayı joins 11 km southeast of the dam with the Bulak Çayı to the Kirmir Çayı , a tributary of the Sarıyar reservoir through which the Sakarya flows .
The barrier structure is a 101.7 m high stone embankment dam . The dam volume is 2.5 million m³. The reservoir covers an area of 32.2 km². The storage volume is 1220 million m³. The Çamlıdere Dam provides 70% of Ankara's drinking water. It supplies 142 million m³ of drinking water per year.
