Ève Chiapello

Ève Chiapello (born April 2, 1965 ) is a French economist.

Life

Chiapello held a professorship for business administration at the École des hautes études commerciales in Paris (HEC) until 2013. Together with Luc Boltanski , Ève Chiapello published her most successful book to date, The New Spirit of Capitalism .

In 1987 Chiapello finished her studies with a Master in Management at the HEC. In 1988 a Master in Management of Arts Organizations followed at the University of Paris-Dauphine and in 1991 a Master in Social Sciences Research.

It was on the “list du Président”, which honors the five best students of the year. In 1994 she completed her dissertation at the University of Paris-Dauphine. In 2000 the habilitation followed, also at the University of Paris-Dauphine.

From 1989–1994 Chiapello worked as a research assistant at the HEC, since 1994 she has been a permanent employee of the HEC and since 2007 she has held a full professorship.

Since 2013 she has been Research Director at the Paris École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS).
