Émile Chautard (born March 4, 1864 in Paris , † after 1937) was a French author and argot researcher .

Life

Chautard was a typesetter by profession. All that is known about his life is that he was a member of the "Société de l'histoire de Paris et de l'Ile de France" and was awarded the Ordre des Palmes Académiques for his books .

His main work is the extensive and information-rich book La vie étrange de l'argot ("The Strange Life of Argot  "), Paris 1931, 720 pages, which was appreciated by connoisseurs (including Louis-Ferdinand Céline ) and published in 1992 (Étoile-sur -Rhône) and 2013 (Paris), most recently with a foreword by Céline specialist Henri Godard.
