Franz Josef Hausmann

Franz Josef Hausmann (born April 13, 1943 in Prüm ) is a German Romance philologist , linguist and dictionary researcher.

life and career

Hausmann studied French and history at the Universities of Saarbrücken and Lille from 1964 to 1969 . He received his doctorate in Saarbrücken in 1972 and completed his habilitation in Tübingen in 1978 , both as a student of Hans Helmut Christmann , whose assistant he was at the Universities of Saarbrücken and Tübingen from 1969 to 1979. From 1979 to 1980 he was Christian Rohrer's chair at the University of Stuttgart . From 1980 to 1981 he enjoyed a Heisenberg scholarship . From 1981 to 2008 he held the chair for applied linguistics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg , where he mainly researched French and metal exicography . During the same period, he was the permanent managing director of the language center . From 1996 to 1998 he was dean of the Philosophical Faculty II. Since his retirement on October 1, 2008, he has lived in France .

The European degree course European Master in Lexicography gave the 2012-2014 class the name "Hausmann".
