Eric Le Sage

Éric Le Sage (* 1964 in Aix-en-Provence ) is a French pianist and university professor.

Éric Le Sage graduated from the Paris Conservatory at the age of 17 . Studies with Maria Curcio in London followed. In 1985 he won first prize at the international piano competition in Porto, in 1989 first prize at the international Robert Schumann competition in Zwickau, and the following year third prize at the piano competition in Leeds.

Le Sage performs worldwide as a soloist, chamber musician and also together with renowned orchestras. Francis Poulenc and Robert Schumann , whose complete piano works were recorded by Le Sage, are particularly focal points of his work . For the latter, which was released by the French label Alpha, he was awarded an annual prize by the German Record Critics in 2010 . There are also other awards, such as a Grand Prix du Disque from the Charles Cros Academy .

Le Sage is the founder of the chamber music festival Musique à l'Empéri in Salon-de-Provence together with the clarinetist Paul Meyer and the flautist Emmanuel Pahud . In 2010 he was appointed professor for piano at the Freiburg University of Music .
