Bellona Ecological Law Center

The Ecological Law Center "Bellona" (Russian Экологический правозащитный центр "Беллона" ) is a non-governmental organization in Saint Petersburg . She advises environmental activists on legal issues and provides information on environmental protection problems in Russia.

history

The organization was founded in April 1998 in response to trials against environmental activists such as Alexander Nikitin . It was supported by the Bellona Foundation in Oslo .

structure

The main focus of the activity is legal advice, information and expertise on environmental protection problems in Russia. Five projects are processed each year.

16 employees currently work for Bellona, ​​including lawyers, experts and journalists. Every year more than 50 volunteers support the activity. The organization publishes a magazine.
