Össur is an Icelandic company based in the state capital Reykjavík . The company was founded in Reykjavík in 1971 by the orthopedic technician Össur Kristinsson and began manufacturing orthopedic products. In 1999 Össur went public on the Icelandic Stock Exchange .

Össur produces and sells prostheses for hands and legs. The main focus here is on prostheses for the lower limbs.
