The Austrian Computer Society (OCG) is a non-profit association for the promotion of information technology , taking into account its effects on people and society.

History and activities

The association was founded in 1975 with the assistance of Heinz Zemanek , and has members from the fields of science, IT applications, teaching and training, as well as companies in the IT sector, and a large number of individuals.

The main purpose is to promote and pool knowledge and experience in the field of information and communication technology . The driving force behind this knowledge transfer are around 25 working groups that deal with topics relating to e-government , e-business , e-learning and e-health .

Certificates

Since the introduction of the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) in 1997, the Austrian Computer Society has also supported the ECDL initiative in Austria. In addition, other internationally recognized certifications are offered, such as the two-stage OCG Typing Certificate for typing skills , the modular certification program OCG Web Management (formerly OCG WebPublisher ) for the areas of web design , multimedia and programming . The OCG has also been a certification body for ISO / IEC 27001 since 2013.
