The Austrian Society for  Non-Destructive Testing  (ÖGfZP) is the umbrella organization for non-destructive testing (ZfP, NDT) in Austria .

history

In the material science sector of non-destructive testing, which developed from the 1930s, the International Committee for NDT  (ICNDT) was founded in 1955 at a first international conference in Brussels , with Austria as a founding member. The export-oriented companies in heavy industry converting to high-tech, such as Voest-Alpine Stahl Linz and VEW Kapfenberg , were particularly interested in this field and built up training and qualifications in-house. In the 1970s, organizations such as TÜV  AUSTRIA-Vienna, the TVFA of the Technical University of Vienna , or the Central Welding Authority joined, and as a result, a first central committee was set up at the Austrian Society for Welding Technology . In 1979/1980 the ÖGfZP was set up as a non-profit association as an Austria-wide platform.

The ICNDT, the global umbrella organization for the national NDT companies, has been based in Austria since 1996 and provides the club's treasurer . Since it was founded in 1998, ÖGfZP has also represented Austria in the European Federation of Non-Destructive Testing (EFNDT).
