Austrian League for the United Nations

The Austrian League for the United Nations was founded in 1945 in direct connection with the United Nations itself as an interface between the UN and the Austrian population. In the first years of its existence, the organization promoted the conclusion of the Austrian State Treaty and above all for Austria's accession to the UN.

Over the years there has been a variety of activities from lectures, exhibitions, concerts and trips to charity events, honors and stamps campaigns. A UN calendar and a magazine were also published.

The organization was originally represented with its own sections in several federal states. At the end of 2008 the organization in Vienna was united with the Austrian Society for Foreign Policy and has since organized a very extensive program as the Austrian Society for Foreign Policy and the United Nations (ÖGAVN).

As an independent association, the Academic Forum for Foreign Policy (AFA) complements the ÖGAVN program with a variety of activities for young people across Austria.

Under the historical club name, the Austrian League for the United Nations, based in the Imperial Hofburg in Innsbruck today u. a. the Kurt-Waldheim-Memorial-Library in Vienna and promotes youth work by providing know-how and infrastructure.
