Cay Dollerup

Cay Dollerup (born November 12, 1939 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine translator , freelance lecturer and former professor at the University of Copenhagen .

Life

Cay Dollerup began studying English and Spanish at the University of Copenhagen in 1959. He also attended the Spanish University of Valladolid and Trinity College in Dublin. In 1970 Dollerup graduated from the University of Copenhagen as Candidatus magisteri , which at the time of his graduation was roughly equivalent to the American Masters. He then obtained his PhD . From 1970 to 2006 Cay Dollerup taught and researched in the English department of the University of Copenhagen.

His research interests are translation, reception, literature and the English language. As part of his research in the field of translation, he was at the European Commission and the United Nations in New York.

other activities

Cay Dollerp organized conferences on Teaching Translation and Interpreting in Denmark in 1991, 1993 and 1995 . He was visiting professor and gave guest lectures in China, Lithuania, Slovenia, Poland, the USA, Hungary, South Africa, Uruguay, Romania, Germany, Uzbekistan and Russia. He is also a co-founder of the journal Perspectives: Studies in Translatology , of which he was editor-in-chief from 1993 to 2006. During this time the journal was in The Arts and Humanities Citation Index .
