The Arts and Humanities Citation Index ( A & HCI ) is a commercial citation database that collects footnotes from more than 1,100 journals in the arts and humanities . The fee-based directory is available to registered users in the Web of Science and was developed by the Institute for Scientific Information , which was later acquired by Thomson Corporation and continued as Thomson Scientific .
