The Austrian Peace Run has been an annual running event in Vienna , Austria since 2002 . The 14th Austrian Peace Run took place on Saturday, April 25, 2015. In contrast to a competition run, every runner looks for sponsors who donate an individual amount per lap to a charitable cause. There is no need to walk, so Nordic walking , wheelchair riding , inline skates or scooters can also be used to cover the route , but not with bicycles (for safety reasons). There is no age limit.

The circuit is around the Vienna City Hall and has been 710 meters long since 2007 (previously 650 meters). Each runner receives a stamp card before the start of the race, which he must always carry with him during the run, as this card is stamped after each lap so that the laps actually run can be checked. The event lasts three to four hours in which rounds are scored.

The Austrian Peace Run is an event within the framework of the “ Decade for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence for the Children of the World ”. It is organized by the Development Aid Club , the Austrian Youth Red Cross , the Catholic Youth , the Sportunion Wien, the Kinderfreunde , the Austrian Scout Association and the Diakonie Österreich . The highest number of participants was achieved in 2006 and 2007 with over 3,000 runners. This year more than 165,000 euros were collected. In the last run, 50,250 euros were achieved, with runners from the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Schwechat in particular making up a large part of the profit with almost 10,000 euros. So far, the Austrian Peace Run has achieved around 288,000 euros.
