Pro Danube Austria

Pro Danube Austria (spelling: PRO Danube AUSTRIA ) (PDA) is an Austrian interest group from the field of inland shipping and the industry of the Danube axis and serves the lobbying and information exchange with the Austrian administration, national and EU politics as well as for non-partisan networking with actors from the entire European Danube region within the framework of the umbrella organization Pro Danube International . According to its own definition, all activities of the association serve to increase the competitiveness of inland shipping. Particular attention is paid to the so-called “thrusts” of infrastructure expansion, fleet modernization, and internationalization.

history

The Danube Association was founded in Vienna in 1879 and renamed the Central Association for River and Canal Shipping in Austria around 1900 . After the founding of the Second Republic, it was reconstituted in 1951 as the Austrian Canal and Shipping Association and renamed the Austrian Waterways and Shipping Association in 1978 . At an extraordinary general meeting in October 2011, the association was renamed PRO Danube AUSTRIA (PDA). The seat of the association is Sankt Pölten ( Spratzern ).

structure

The president of the association, Fritz Lehr ( Port of Vienna ) since 2011 , represents the association externally. Further members of the board were or are: Otto Schwetz ( IDS ), Alexander Klacska as representative of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Horst Felbermayr as representative of inland freight shipping, Christoph Henöckl for trade, Christian Mokry ( VOEST ) as representative of industry, Gerald Riha as representative the logistics industry, Wolfgang Lüftner as a representative of passenger shipping and Manfred Seitz (Pro Danube International).
