Austrian Association for Automotive Technology

The Austrian Association for Motor Vehicle Technology (ÖVK) in Vienna is a non-profit association for engineers and technicians in the motor vehicle industry. The ÖVK has its origins in the Austrian Association of Engineers and Architects (ÖIAV). In order to better represent the interests of motor vehicle technology, the separation from the ÖIAV and the establishment of the ÖVK was decided in autumn 1985. The chairman of the association is Hans Peter Lenz .

The ÖVK organizes lectures, seminars and symposia and issues publications and maintains relationships with technical universities, technical colleges, authorities, associations and comparable associations in other countries, in particular with the VDI Society for Vehicle and Transport Technology . The goals of the ÖVK include a. the summary of the members of the motor vehicle class, promotion of general technical education and training, as well as the sensible application of motor vehicle technology.

The association, which has over 700 members (natural persons), is the largest association of its kind in Austria and has been the official Austrian representative at the world umbrella organization of the national automotive engineering associations FISITA since May 1990 . Since June 1990 the ÖVK has been a member of the European umbrella organization of the national automotive engineering associations EAEC . Günter Hohl, board member of the ÖVK, is a member of the presidium in both umbrella organizations.
