Hans Peter Lenz

Hans Peter Lenz (born July 9, 1934 in Bonn ) is a German mechanical engineer and emeritus university professor .

Career

Lenz graduated from RWTH Aachen in the area of mechanical engineering . He received his doctorate from the ETH in Zurich. From 1974 to 2002 he was head of the Institute for Internal Combustion Engines and Automotive Engineering at the Technical University of Vienna . Lenz previously worked for Deutz AG and Daimler-Benz, among others . He became known for fundamental work on mixture formation and on vehicle catalysts .

In 1992 Lenz received the ARBÖ environmental award . In 2004 he was editor of the motor technical magazine . In 2009 he received the prize of the Motor Journalists' Interest Group (IGM) for the second time.

Lenz is honorary chairman of the Austrian Association for Automotive Technology , which he founded in 1985. He was its chairman until autumn 2017. The International Vienna Motor Symposium , which meets every year in the Vienna Hofburg , goes back to him.
