Ø (definition of terms)
The symbol Ø or ø stands for:
- the letters Ø used in Danish, Norwegian and Faroese .
- the diameter symbol or average symbol (also "⌀" (U + 2300))
- the symbol of the empty set (actually "∅" (U + 2205))
- "None, none, none, not" (including in the medical field)
- the symbol of the mother tincture in homeopathy
- the rounded semi-closed front tongue vowel in the International Phonetic Alphabet
- a half diminished (seventh) chord for chord symbols in music
- Icelandic license plate for Keflavík Airport
- a project by the Finnish musician Mika Vainio
In some computer fonts and the character for the digit zero run with a slash in order to better distinguish the letter O to ensure. However, this does not go beyond the oval of zero.
