Waiting period

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hold-up period refers to the subsequent storage of entries during repayment

It is used to keep the old entries that may be relevant for the amount of the penalty available in the case of offenses that still occur during the period of the existing points or previous convictions, but are only recorded in the respective register after the regular repayment period has expired . During the retention period, the entries are only communicated to the person himself or his lawyer, so they are no longer visible to authorities or inquiring bodies and are therefore not relevant for decisions. If, however, at a point in time after the expiry of the regular repayment, acts that were committed before the expiry of the repayment are added, the entries from the retention period come back to life.

Entries are therefore irretrievably removed from the respective register at the earliest after the regular repayment period plus retention period has expired.
