The steam locomotive series MÁV TVa was a tank locomotive series of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV), which was also procured by the Kaschau-Oderberger Bahn (KsOd).

history

Since on some Hungarian branch lines only a lower axle pressure than that of the MÁV TV series (later MÁV 375 ) was permitted, the TVa series (later 376) was developed. It was initially procured from 1910 to 1913 in a composite version with a volume of 208 copies, the technical data of which is shown in the table. From 1914 onwards, 83 twin versions of superheated steam were built, followed by 28 war-related copies with Brotan boilers . All locomotives in this series were built in Budapest .

Some compound machines were converted to superheated steam twins and then referred to as 376,601-649.

Between 1912 and 1914, eleven of the high-performance composite tank locomotives were built for the KsOd in Budapest. When the KsOd was nationalized in 1924, all vehicles of this series came to the ČSD , which they designated as 320.201-211. 20 former MÁV locomotives came to the ČSD after the First World War. They were briefly referred to as 310.301-320 and were eventually given the numbers 320.212-231. After the Second World War, other former MÁV locomotives came to the ČSD and were designated as 320.232-246. They were retired by 1966.

During the Second World War there were several renaming as a result of the classification of (from the ČSD , JDŽ , ...) captured machines. For example, gaps that arose from the conversion into superheated steam twins were filled or the designations 376,801–805 and 376,1001 were introduced. The machines designated as 376,1002 / 4/8/9, however, belonged to a different design as the MÁV 376 "series (ex kkStB 99 ).
