Česukai
Česukai is a village with 5 inhabitants (2010) in the Merkinė District , Lithuania . In 1959 there were 79 inhabitants.
geography
Česukai is located in the Merkinė district , in the Varėna district . The village is located in the Dzūkija National Park , in the Merkys Protected Landscape Area , about 1 km south of Merkinė , in the Memel Valley .
pyramid
The village is known for its geopathological ( bioenergetic ) pyramid , called Pyramid Merkinė and Herzentemper (lit. "Širdžių šventovė"), built in 2003 on the initiative of Povilas Žėkas (* 1983) and Onutė Žėkienė. The pyramid is in the Žėkas settlement, at the entrance to the village. In 2009 the glass dome (height 12.5 m, diameter 22 m) and 3 wooden crosses were built. The Protected Areas Authority, Valstybinė saugomų teritorijny tarnyba (VSTT) requested the demolition of the pyramid in 2010, but a signature-collection campaign to preserve it was successful.
