history

The club was founded in 2000 as Ceramic Club Đồng Tâm Long An from the merger of U-21 Đồng Tâm Ceramic and FC Long An . The namesake, sponsor and initiator of the merger of both teams was the company Dong Tam Ceramic Co. Võ Quốc Thắng, the president of the club and manager of the company Đồng Tâm Ceramic Co., wanted to promote the sport from an early age. He created professional structures and, in addition to the U-21 team, also founded U-11, U-13, U-15 and U-18 teams. The other club, FC Long An, was only moderately successful. Relegation at the end of the 1999/2000 season was followed by promotion to the V-League at the end of the 2001/02 season. This was followed by a merger with FC Long An. Since then, Đồng Tâm Long An has mostly been at the top of the league. This resulted in winning the championships in 2005 and 2006, as well as winning the Vietnamese Cup in 2005. In 2006 and 2007, the club took part in the AFC Champions League , but both times could not get a single point. In 2007 the ceramic was deleted from the club name. From the 2009 game year, the club could no longer hold in the top group of the league and in 2011 even had to relegate to the second division. This was followed in 2012 by the championship title and direct promotion back to the highest football league in the country. After the club went bankrupt in 2015, it was split back into two parts. While the split-off part was dissolved, FC Long An remained in existence and resumed its first-class game from 2016.
