İnaloğulları Beyliği

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The İnaloğulları or Inaliden ( Turkish also Yinaloğulları ) were an Anatolian Beylik in the 12th century. The center of the Beylik was the city of Diyarbakir (then name Amid).

The founder of the dynasty is a certain Sadr , who founded a small Beylik in Amid in 1095. His son or brother İnal , who came to power in 1098, is the namesake of the Beylik, but should not have ruled for long. His son Ibrahim fought against the crusaders. Later he was a vassal of Muhammad I Tapars , Kılıç Arslan I and the Ahlachahs . After his death in 1110 his son Sadüddevle İl Aldı came to power. This again took part in battles against the crusaders. He died in 1142 and his son Mahmud succeeded him. He married a daughter of the Ortoqid of Mardin Timurtaş. Under his rule the real power lay with the powerful viziers of the Nisanid family.

In 1183 Saladin conquered Amid and gave it to his allies, the Ortoqids of Hasankeyf. This was the end of the Inaloğulları rule.
