Štěpán Hulík

Štěpán Hulík (born May 26, 1984 in Uherské Hradiště ) is a Czech screenwriter and film historian .

Life

After graduating from school in his native Uherské Hradiště, Štěpán Hulík studied film studies at Charles University and screenwriting at the film and television faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts , both in Prague . He wrote his award-winning thesis in film studies on normalization in the Barrandov film studios .

He made his debut as a screenwriter in 2013 with the award-winning miniseries Burning Bush - The Heroes of Prague . The episodes staged by Agnieszka Holland are based on real events and tell of the consequences and aftermath of the public self-immolation of the student and demonstrator Jan Palach after the crackdown on the Prague Spring . For his work he was awarded a Český lev as best screenwriter.
