'Alhan Nahfan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

'Alhan (Nahfan) was a king of Saba around AD 200 from the house of the Hamdanids. He was the son of Yarim Aymin .

'Alhan is mentioned in an inscription which reports that' Alhan visited King Yada'il of Hadramaut to negotiate a treaty. The inscription is not completely preserved. The 'Alhan mentioned in this inscription is probably identical with' Alhan Nahfan, who is known to have been allied with Gadarat , ruler of Aksum and Yadi'ab Ghailan II , king of Hadramaut. It is also recorded that 'Alhan Nahfan put down an uprising by the Sabaean tribe of Chaulan . He was succeeded by his son Sha'ir Awtar .
