Gadarat
Gadarat (also Gadurat , unvocalized Old Ethiopian gdr , old South Arabic gdrt ) was a king ( Negus ) of Aksum who ruled in the early 3rd century AD.
The oldest Aksumite king inscription comes from Gadarat, in which he is referred to as "gdr, Negus of Aksum". A dedicatory inscription from Arhab in present-day Yemen , which exists in several copies , also testifies that Gadarat allied with 'Alhan Nahfan and his son Sha'ir Awtar of Saba ; however, this alliance was dissolved a little later by Sha'ir Awtar. It is true that during his reign he sent a diplomatic mission to Gadarat, the outcome of which is unknown. But it came to a war against Gadarat's son and probably army leader BYGT (probably Beygat) and the Aksumites seem to have withdrawn from southern Arabia.
