( minuscule : ) is a letter in the Latin writing system . Graphically, it was created from a ligature of a doubled “O”. It is only used as a separate letter in the language "Massachusett", which became extinct in the 19th century, and represents a long U (uː) or a 'w' as in English "water".

It is also often found in manuscripts, for example in Finnish , where it denotes a long “o” (IPA: ɔː, in Estonian a ɔˑ or ɔː).
