.NET User Group

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A .NET User Group or .NET Developer Group is a user group of the .NET software platform developed by Microsoft . In addition, it is often more of an independent association of (professional) software developers, students and academics. This means that .NET User Groups are usually a company under civil law .

The operators of the .NET User Groups are mostly highly intrinsically committed people who are interested in meeting like-minded people and who look after the .NET User Groups non-commercially in their free time. They are usually called "Leads of the .NET User Group". The sense and purpose of the .NET User Groups is the exchange of experience and knowledge, not so much the distribution of software as in the context of an installation party . Most .NET user groups are organized in a very decentralized manner and are limited to cities or districts. Some events such as the annual Developer Open Space let the regional aspects take a back seat and are attended and accepted by participants from all over Germany as well as from other European countries, especially from Austria and Switzerland.

Switzerland

In Switzerland various regional .NET user groups are organized. Today there are .NET User Groups in Bern, Central Switzerland and Northwestern Switzerland.

Germany

In Germany and internationally many .NET User Groups are the Microsoft under Microsoft C ommunity L eader / I nsider P rogram (Microsoft CLIP) in the design of meeting. This can be, for example, the reimbursement of travel expenses for a speaker, software for raffles or presentations, a direct contact person at Microsoft or speakers from Microsoft. The user groups also supported within the framework of Microsoft CLIP, or more appropriately with the word groupings , include "dFPUG" ( Microsoft Visual FoxPro ), "Sharepoint", "PASS" (Professional Association for SQL Server) and "Windows Mobile" not to the .NET user groups.

International

International .NET User Groups are the I nternational. NET A ssociation (INETA), organized in Europe via the International .NET Association Europe branch and usually only organized by one INETA contact per country. In Germany, INETA Germany is doing this with Lars Keller as lead and Karim El Jed as co-lead.

.NET User Groups are independent of INETA, but are supported, for example, by sponsoring travel expenses, as is the case with Microsoft CLIP.

Membership in Microsoft CLIP and / or INETA is predominantly within the .NET community an award for .NET community engagement, although a certain strategic orientation of the sponsors of these programs cannot be negated. In consideration of this, such programs are still gladly accepted because speakers, for example, would otherwise have to finance their travel expenses privately.
