Microsoft CLIP

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Microsoft Community Leader / Insider Program (formerly Microsoft Community Leader / Influencer Program ) ( CLIP ) was an initiative by Microsoft Germany since 2003 to support non-commercial user groups / communities that have formed around Microsoft products, services and technologies. Examples include a. the .NET user groups , operators of blogs , forums or portals . The program was discontinued in spring 2015 and will be replaced by the Microsoft TechConnect program.

membership

In contrast to the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) program, which, like CLIP, can be located as a long-term strategic activity by Microsoft, membership was unlimited in time, but expired when the corresponding commitment to the user group was terminated. Another difference to the MVP program is that user groups or their supervisors could apply to Microsoft for inclusion in CLIP. Membership in the MVP program is only possible at the invitation of Microsoft. As with the MVP program, the decision to join CLIP was made every quarter.

The user groups and their operators were listed in the “Microsoft Community Guide” on the Microsoft website. In October 2006, Microsoft Deutschland GmbH managed over “400 online and offline addresses”. Several times a year, all CLIP members were invited to events such as the “CLIP Open Day” or the “Community GetTogether”, which were intended to help them get to know each other. Microsoft usually sponsored travel expenses up to a certain amount.

Furthermore, user groups that were included in the CLIP received technical information, assistance and a personal contact at Microsoft.

Supervised user groups

Among other things, user groups with the following topics were supported within the framework of Microsoft CLIP:
