Microsoft MVP
The Microsoft MVP ( Engl. M ost V aluable P rofessional "Maximum Estimated Expert") is the highest award from Microsoft , which of dedicated experts with outstanding technical expertise for their contributions (lectures, blog articles, forum posts) will be awarded to the community. The award has been presented annually since 1995.
In 2019 there are 3169 active MVPs worldwide, 173 of them from the DA-CH region , which are divided into 11 technological fields (see below). According to Microsoft, the MVPs are selected from over 100 million community participants. Depending on the subject, a different number of MVPs are awarded.
MVPs get a personal contact ("MVP Lead") and special support from Microsoft, as well as various other "benefits" such as B. a software package in the form of a Visual Studio Enterprise subscription.

- MVPs blogs (in Microsoft communities as well as on personal websites)
- Offline communities
- Articles in magazines

Award process
A jury made up of members of the Microsoft MVP team and Microsoft's product group teams will evaluate the technical expertise and voluntary contribution of each nominated person to the communities over the past year. The jury takes into account the quality, number and effectiveness of the MVP candidate's contributions. Active MVPs are screened just as thoroughly every year as other candidates.
Events and interaction
The recipients of the MVP Award are invited annually to participate in the so-called MVP Global Summit , a multi-day event at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond and in Seattle, Washington. At the MVP Global Summit, MVPs get access to exclusive technical content, attend sessions where they can provide direct feedback, and meet Microsoft product managers and other MVPs from around the world.
MVPs usually maintain a lively exchange with Microsoft in the branches of the individual countries. In Germany so u. a. Irregularly several times a year, a so-called MVP Open Day is held in different cities, where MVPs can socialize with one another, build relationships with Microsoft experts and give the Microsoft product teams practical insights and feedback.
