The 1st Bowling Club Duisburg 1963/90 e. V. is a Duisburg bowling club that plays with several teams in the first national league to the district league.

history

1. BC Duisburg was founded in July 1963 as the fifth bowling club in North Rhine-Westphalia after Bochum, Wuppertal, Düsseldorf and Essen. Since then, the home facility has been the Treff bowling center at Düsseldorfer Landstrasse 76 ( Lage ).

Egmont Kahnt, who was elected at the time, headed the association for over 32 years. After his retirement in 1995, Horst Comes became chairman. Horst Comes was succeeded in March 2007 by Horst Niedick as first chairman. Achim Grabowski became the second chairman. In June 2008 the board was restructured. Since then, Winfried Wessendorf, Michael Krämer and Egon Neudorf have been responsible for the interests of the association and its members as managing directors.

After just a few years, 1. BC Duisburg became a stronghold of German bowling alongside Berlin, Mannheim and Stuttgart. The outstanding player of that time was the national player Heinrich König , who died of a heart attack in 1989 at the age of 52.

First team performances

  • 1970 Promotion to the newly formed Bundesliga
  • 1970 to 1978, 1984 to 1989 and again since 1991 the team plays in the first division, now in the second division
  • in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2008 the club became German Club Masters
