1. Football Club Achternberg was a football club from the Rotthausen district of Gelsenkirchen and was founded in 1968.
history
The club's greatest success was reaching the finals of the DFB Cup 1985/86 as a district league team at the time. 1. FC Achternberg had lost the final in the Westphalia Cup against TuS Paderborn-Neuhaus 2: 4. In the first main round, the club was defeated by the then second division club VfL Osnabrück on the district sports facility Auf der Reihe with 0: 2. A year later, the team rose to the national league , which the club had to leave again in 1989 after two years as a knocked-down table.
In 2001 the club merged with SSV Rotthausen to form SSV / FCA Rotthausen 2000 . The SSV Rotthausen was the successor club of the SV Rotthausen , which had to be dissolved in 2000 due to insolvency .
